Over the December 2019 / January 2020 period a lot of work has progressed on the basement even though Pyramid closed down for two weeks.
During this time nearly 200 m3 of concrete and close to 30 tons of steel have been supplied and installed. The tower crane has been erected and the first section of the lift and stair well walls have been built.

Car Stacker Pits
The car stacker pits block work and concrete cavity fill has been completed during the month of January. This involves deep excavation for the pad footings and formwork to pour the concrete columns. These columns will eventually be incorporated into the podium level slab to form its structural support.

The basement floor will be at the top of these pits to allow the car stackers to drop into them. The Podium level will be at the top of these columns. These walls will be waterproofed, and clean fill sand will be placed up against the walls and compacted.
The Next Four Weeks
Over the next four weeks this sand will be moved from one side of the site to the other to make way for the plasterer as he shotcretes the basement walls. Shotcrete is a process where the render is blasted onto the walls and then levelled off to make a smooth finished wall.
When the shotcrete is complete this sand will be used to level the basement floor ready for the concrete.
The basement floor will be installed, and formwork will begin for the podium level.
With construction well under way, Paradiso owners are getting very excited as ‘move in date’ is that much closer!
